Given our obsession with chairs around here, it was obvious our homage to him would have to be done with images of rooms showing off the iconic Barcelona chair and ottoman. He designed the Barcelona for the German Pavillion at the Barcelona Exposition of 1929–the rest is history. Never intended for the masses who fell in love with it, this epitome of modern design is still being manufactured by Knoll today.

Today’s interior design inspiration beautifully merges rustic and contemporary. Of course, the velvet seating is the first thing that caught our eye here at GGG, but we’re so loving these simple loose slipcovers with box pleats at the corners. Don’t they look gorgeous in linen?

I think I’ve found my ultimate dream master bath. The natural light is amazing! The light fixtures are gorgeous! Is there one single thing not to love?

It was fun and interesting. I was surprised that in addition to simply checking a box there was plenty of room to explain your choice and how you use that particular color. Have fun!

I clicked on A Wildly Colorful New York Apartment by Designer Miles Redd and there was one of my favorite color palettes. It’s one that has stood the test of time. I started using it many years ago and return to it time after time after short-lived experimentation with other colors.

The Look: Traditional, Modern and More

The most personal of interior design elements, color is seen in the reflection of light by an object. Value, also called shading or tone is the lightness or darkness of a color. In interior design, colors are generally divided into three groups: warm, cool and neutrals. Today’s focus is on the cool color group—greens, blues and purples.

We think ocean blues and greens (and yes, sometimes purples) perfectly illustrate how color and a lovely variation of tone are seen in the reflection of light. The colors of the sea are ever-changing. From brilliant sunny blues and soft greens to deep stormy gray-blues, they can be used in just about any combination in décor. Early last year, Steve and Brooke Giannetti designed this room in the Ashton Kutcher Showhouse for charity. It a great example of the beauty of ocean blues in interior design. The paintings were all done by Steve.

A closer look at the Gianetti’s design above shows how the gorgeous pale tufted chair and array of decorative pillows pull their soft sea-inspired hues from the paintings that capture the ocean in its many moods.
